Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for;

  • Lead the Data organisation across Data Platform/Engineering and Analytics & AI.
  • Further develop and manage the organisation’s Databricks-based data platform and lakehouse.
  • Lead the migration from the existing data warehouse environment to Databricks.
  • Own the central enterprise data layer, including master data, certified enterprise KPIs and the semantic/business meaning layer.
  • Develop and scale a federated data model, enabling business and technology domains to build and publish their own data products.
  • Establish and maintain data contracts covering ownership, definitions, quality, SLAs and standards.
  • Create the right governance framework for data quality, access, security and cost management.
  • Lead the organisation’s Master Data Management roadmap.
  • Enable the use of trusted and certified data for AI, business applications, self-service analytics and process mining.
  • Build an effective developer experience with templates, tooling, sandboxes and standardised ways of working.
  • Manage internal and external delivery partners, including offshore/nearshore teams.
  • Own the data platform budget and ensure an effective balance between innovation, quality and cost.
  • Stabilise and further develop the team during an important phase of organisational change.

Job requirements

We are looking for someone with;

  • A senior Head of Data or similar with a strong track record in data leadership.
  • Proven experience leading a data platform as a product, with internal teams and business domains as customers.
  • Demonstrable experience moving an organisation from centralised data delivery towards a federated/domain-based model.
  • Strong experience with Databricks and modern lakehouse environments.
  • Solid knowledge of data architecture, data modelling, data governance and data quality.
  • Experience with Data Mesh, data products and/or data contracts.
  • Experience with Master Data Management and enterprise data.
  • Experience with semantic layers, business glossaries and certified metrics is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading data engineering through offshore or nearshore partners.
  • Experience managing significant data platform budgets and external technology partners.
  • Comfortable operating at executive level and working with senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology and the business.
  • Strong change leadership skills and the ability to bring people and teams along in a transformation.

Remuneration

Salary €130,000 – €150,000 gross per year, depending on knowledge and experience, excluding secondary employment benefits.
