Job description
As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you are part of the Finance team and contribute to a wide range of financial processes for internal Smurfit Westrock factories and (back)offices, as well as external suppliers across Europe. You make sure that the accounts payable and receivable flows are processed correctly, on time, and clearly. Some of your tasks include:
- Checking invoices for accuracy and resolving discrepancies
- Monitoring the payment process (in cooperation with the Shared Service Center)
- Managing and analyzing accounts payable and receivable positions
- Keeping in touch with internal and external stakeholders
- Helping out with month-end closings and audits
- Providing support for internal and external audits
- Spotting opportunities for improvement and contributing to process optimization
You interact with different parties daily and quickly learn how financial processes work within an international organization.
Job requirements
You are eager to learn, detail-oriented, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment. You pick things up quickly and want to develop yourself within finance. You bring along:
- Degree preferably in Finance, Business Economics, or similar
- 0–3 years of work experience
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel (SAP is a plus)
- A structured and precise working style
- Analytical thinking and a proactive attitude
- Ability to prioritize and take initiative
- Living in the Roermond area.
Important:
We do not offer visa or relocation support.
You must be allowed to work in the Netherlands and have a BSN.
Remuneration

- Salary between €2,900 – €3,400 gross per month (full-time), depending on experience
- 25 vacation days + 13 ATV days, to be taken freely (based on full-time)
- Hybrid working with home office allowance (€2.45 per day)
