Job description

The Application Basis & Release Manager will form a vital part of the Application Centre of Excellence to drive best practices, innovation, and standardization across all enterprise software applications. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of software products and updates within the application landscape to optimize business processes and enhance user satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • SAP system administration: managing SAP systems, including installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization;
  • System upgrades and patches: planning and executing system upgrades, applying patches, and ensuring system stability and security;
  • Transport Management: overseeing the SAP transport management system to move configuration changes, developments, and customizations between system landscapes;
  • Backup and recovery: implementing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies to ensure system data integrity and availability;
  • Performance tuning: analysing system performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system performance through configuration changes and enhancements;
  • Documentation and reporting: maintaining detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and processes. Generating reports for management and auditing purposes;
  • Collaboration: working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders, to resolve issues, support system integrations and work on projects;
  • Incident and problem management: responding to system incidents, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence;
  • Release management: collaborate closely with Business Stakeholders, IT Teams and external partners to develop and maintain a release schedule for all relevant applications;
  • Release management: managing the release of new SAP functionalities, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring successful deployment into production environments;
  • Project management: manage project portfolios, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business needs and technological trends;
  • Continuous improvement: evaluate new technologies and methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency within the organization;
  • Compliance and governance: ensure compliance with IT governance policies, data security standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure alignment with IT strategy and future application roadmap;
  • Leadership: provide mentorship for other team members.

Job requirements

  • Preferable bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
  • At least eight years of experience in IT, with a minimum of two years in a leadership role;
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in application SAP Basis Support;
  • Proven experience in managing complex release calendars across multiple applications, project management and vendor relationship management;
  • Experience in system security and general IT security;
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, system design, enterprise architecture;
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and execution skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with multiple teams across disciplinary boundarie;
  • Certifications in Project Management (PMP), ITIL, or similar are highly desirable.

In this role, you would need a combination of technical expertise in SAP systems, experience in system administration, and excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively manage SAP landscapes and support business operations.

  • A salary of up to € 6.071,- based on a 40-hour working week, paid per 4 weeks (13 times a year);
  • 8.33% holiday pay in May;
  • Variable bonus scheme based on EBITDA and performance;
  • 24 vacation days (based on full-time) and 1 additional vacation day every 2 years of employment, with a maximum of 5 additional days per year;
  • 0.23 cents/km travel expenses reimbursement;
