Sr SAP Consultant (interim/freelance)

In the role of SAP Consultant, you will be responsible for;

• Own the functional design and delivery of one or more specialist domains within an SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition transformation.
• Translate business requirements into fit-to-standard designs and robust integrations, working closely with business users, architects and integration developers.
• Lead domain workshops, configuration, testing, cutover and stabilisation while promoting reusable patterns across countries or business units

Potential specialist domains

• Commerce and Orders SAP SD, sales-order management, pricing, availability, web-shop and CRM integrations.
• Logistics and 3PL SAP SD or logistics execution, deliveries, shipping, returns, warehouses, carriers and inventory interfaces.
• Billing and Subscription SAP BRIM, Subscription Billing, CPQ, Convergent Invoicing, FI-CA, usage rating and recurring-revenue processes.
• Finance and Reconciliation SAP FI/CO, General Ledger, AP and AR, payments, bank or PSP processing, clearing, financial controls and auditability.
• Master Data and PIM Product or material and business-partner data, pricing and tax, PIM, MDI, data governance and S/4HANA Migration Cockpit.

Key responsibilities

• Own fit-to-standard functional design and configuration for the relevant domain using SAP Best Practices and SSCUI or guided configuration.
• Maintain a clean core and collaborate with architects on appropriate side-by-side extensions where genuine gaps remain.
• Define integrations, mappings, message flows, validation, monitoring and error-reprocessing behaviour with middleware and platform teams.
• Protect end-to-end process integrity and coordinate hand-offs to adjacent domains, platforms and downstream systems.
• Prepare functional test scenarios, lead system integration testing and support user acceptance testing and defect resolution.
• Support data migration, cutover rehearsals, go-live, hypercare and handover to application support where relevant to the domain.
• Act as the senior functional authority for the domain, mentor colleagues and drive the reuse of designs and templates.
• Assess quarterly SAP cloud releases for functional impact, regression requirements and adoption opportunities.

We are looking for candidates with;

• Hands-on delivery experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
• Senior functional expertise in at least one of the specialist domains listed above.
• Strong understanding of the relevant end-to-end process, master-data dependencies and cross-module impacts.
• Proven ability to specify functional requirements for integration teams using SAP Integration Suite, CPI or a comparable middleware platform.
• Fit-to-standard and clean-core delivery discipline, including scope-item and SSCUI configuration experience.
• Experience leading workshops and working effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams and other functional domains.

Desirable experience

• SAP BTP side-by-side extensibility, SAP Master Data Integration or related cloud services.
• SAP Activate experience and relevant SAP certifications.
• Multi-country or multi-business-unit rollouts and repeated deployment of standardised templates.
• Experience in e-commerce, logistics, subscription-based, media, retail, SaaS or other integration-intensive environments.
• Data migration, reconciliation, cutover or operational handover experience relevant to the chosen domain.

The hourly rate depends on experience and expertise and ranges from EUR 100–120, excluding VAT.

Duration: 6–12 months minimum, with a commitment of 32–40 hours per week.

Candidates must be based in the EU.
